Rabies Vaccine for Cats
Most veterinarians recommend that the first rabies vaccine for cats be given around 24-26 weeks of age and that a booster shot be given one year later.
Many local and state laws require a rabies booster every year after that, while other areas mandate vaccination only every three years.
The vaccine is given either in a muscle or subcutaneously.
While it is possible to buy rabies vaccine online and administer it to your pets yourself, many countries and states forbid the home administration of the rabies vaccine and require that it be done by a veterinarian.
When adopting an adult cat and you are unsure of his rabies vaccination history, it is recommended that the initial rabies vaccine should be administered and be followed up one year later with a booster.
